Mizuno MP-62 Irons Review

Mizuno MP-62 Irons Review

Overview

The Mizuno MP-62 Irons are classified as Game Enhancement irons by Mizuno, which means that these irons are targeted towards a lower handicap player. These are not game improvement irons which provide more forgiveness on mis-hit shots.

What the Manufacturer Says – Mizuno MP-62 Irons

The New MP-62 irons with breakthrough DUAL MUSCLE technology were designed for the player who covets workability and shot making control with forgiveness. Dual Muscle Technology perfectly blends two muscle pads; the outer muscle pad allows for a precisely placed COG that provides an enhanced sweet area for maximum playability, and the inner muscle pad delivers mass behind the impact area for the solid feel and the feedback that better players demand. The classic head profile with the player preferred aesthetics of a thin top line, minimal offset and tour inspired sole design, combined with Grain Flow Forged feel, make the MP-62 irons the perfect weapons to deliver a consistent ball flight and unsurpassed shot making accuracy.

Key Features:

  • Dual Muscle Player’s Cavity for a perfect blend of feel, workability and forgiveness
  • Utilizing State of the Art CAD design and Frequency Analysis Software, the COG is precisely located behind the impact zone for maximum feel and workability
  • Exclusive Grain Flow Forged™, 1025E “Pure Select” mild carbon steel provides the ultimate soft, solid, and consistent feel
  • Durable double nickel chrome plated finish
  • Modified U-grooves produce the ideal spin rate for maximum playability in all conditions
  • Rolled leading edge, aggressively cambered mid-sole, and rolled trailing edge deliver tour level workability and ball control

On the Course

I have made these irons my main golf irons on the course. Mizuno makes some of the best irons and the MP-62’s live up to that reputation. These are forged irons, which means that the club heads are carved from one piece of metal. Forged irons provide a great feel and consistency for a lower handicap player. The Dual Muscle Back is a mix between a blade iron and a cavity back iron, providing great feel, workability and some forgiveness. I instantly fell in love with these irons when I was looking for my next set of clubs. I set out to try as many different clubs as I could in order to find the next perfect set of irons for my bag. The feel is wonderful when you make good contact with your shot. If you speak with people playing Mizuno irons, you no doubt have heard the turn “feels like butter” and the MP-62’s provide the same feeling. If you have not hit a Mizuno forged iron before, you must get out and try them immediately.

For me, the look of the irons are beautiful. Standing over a shot at address, the irons look great, with a thin top-line and shiny chrome head. I feel that the appearance of the club head at address is very important as it will instil confidence standing over your golf shot, thus producing more solid strikes. The consitency of these irons is great. Solid shots are produce the same distance over and over again.
