Having lived in the Dallas area for many years, I was familiar with Jordan Spieth early on, especially after his showing at the Byron Nelson PGA event a few years back. Well, Jordan Spieth signs a 10 year extension with Under Armour today that will make him quite wealthy, but also stick with Under Armour until his 30’s!
It sounds like Spieth will be prominently featured in international marketing campaigns for Under Armour including digital, print and social media. Taking a page out of Tiger’s book, it looks like Spieth is going to be involved with building the Under Armour Golf business like Tiger did with Nike. Spieth is involved with the development of an Under Armour golf shoe, the first to come from UA and is due out in the spring of 2015
“Jordan is an incredible talent and has already accomplished so much in his short career,” said Ryan Kuehl, Senior Category Director, Global Golf and Tennis, Under Armour. “This long-term commitment to each other emphasizes Under Armour’s continuing drive for dominance in the golf category and to provide all golfers with the most innovative performance gear from head-to-toe.”
Spieth had an exceptional year on the PGA tour in 2014, and it appears that 2015 will be the same making the investment a good one for Under Armour at this time. 10 years is a long time in the sports world, but so far Spieth seems to be the real deal.
